RUDRAMADEVI – REVIEW

‘Rudramadevi’has induced our admiration next to ‘Baahubali’ in the category of historical films. Anushka had offered her complete dedication to this film and it has been directed by Gunasekaran who is very popular and successful in Telugu.

As no male child for Kakathya king to succeed the throne in future, his kingdom is in peril to be captured anytime by neighbouring country as well as some internal enemies such as Suman and Athithya. Unfortunately, Kakathya king is onceagain blessed with a female child in this crucial juncture.

In a bid to save the country, the righteous minister Prakashraj intends to follow some secret measures. As a result, he pretends that the king recently have gotten the male child to succeed the throne and successfully convinced the internal and external enemies as well as people to believe this. He takes care of that child personally, free from others’ attention after getting nod from the king.

He successfully brought up that female child(Anushka), disguised as male, in the name of Rudhradevan being inducted with all types of martial training. She manages to overcome all the hurdles and the truth about her gender comes to the light during the coronation ceremony. But, the fate is so powerful here, as she is being denied by all sections including the common people of that country, resulting in her expatriation from the country under the banner of sedition. Following the banishment, Anushka is coming under the great assistantship of her friends like Raana and Allu Arjun. She finally emergessuccessful with capturing throne after securing support from the people.

Anushka has mindfully supported the efforts of director Gunasekar. She extends her attempts to the level of sword fighting and taming the elephant to make this film admirable. Allu Arjun and Rana have contributed their part without fail. The role of Prakashraj is also effective. Suman, Athithya and Catherine Teresa are other remarkable contributors for this film.

Camera man Ajay Vincent, Art director Thotta Dharani and Music director Ilayaraja have made us feel residing in the historical kingdom. While we are appreciating the efforts of director, it is unavoidable to think that there should be some more impressions on the gallantry of Rudhramadevi. Some audience may feel that it didn’t touch the heart as Baahubali did. However, the partnership of Anushka and Gunasekaran deserves our salutes.
