Raja Rani Music Review

This is so cool and dulcet to our senses. In the recent times, GV Prakash has been coming up with different genres of music. With ‘Raja Rani’, he tries to bring in the breeze of Hollywood rom-com, which works out to a greater extent. The film is directed by newcomer Atlee and is produced by Fox Star Studios in collaboration with AR Murugadoss Productions.

The album opens with a sangfroid male solo that we often come across during the opening titles of Hollywood romantic comedy films. ‘Hey Baby’ has been very crooned by GV Prakash and Aishwarya on the accompaniment is a splendid blend. The unexpected transition from ‘sweet melody’ to ‘Gaana’ zone is a surprise and Gaana Bala renders it in an excellent style.

So far, we had heard Shakthishree Gopalan rendering soft melodies. For the first time, she draws our attention with a medium paced folk song. Pa. Vijay has penned lyrics with simplicity and there are no complicated words. The beats in the backdrops look stereotypical in places yet convincing.

The song Chilena has every element to impress us. It’s so energetic, peppy and the song pictured on Jai and Nayanthara is so appealing. The song traverses through various aspects of folk and western and it’s a new attempt in Tamil music industry. Be it singers Clinton Cerejo, Alphonse and Alka or the musical instruments, everything is done with a panache.

The album finds a new place of melody with Unnale that runs for very few minutes when compared to the other tracks. Vandhana Srinivasan makes the song appealing with her best rendition. It keeps ringing in our minds even after it’s over and that’s because of Na. Muthukumar, who has given beautiful lyrics.

The peppy track Oday Oday is enjoyable throughout. Vijay Prakash, Sasha and Shalmali Kholgade offer a best feel with this song. Though the lyrics by Pa. Vijay tend to be feeble in few places, the music in style of rock and roll and jazz hold the important place. It is worth mentioning that the song is shot on Arya and Nazriya Nazim.

Imaye Imaye is so enchanting that every note played here is so melodious. A great work by GV Prakash Kumar and Shakthishree Gopalan as they let the emotions in us flow like a stream. The instrumentals have a great mention here as they enhance the emotional feel exhibited by the singers.

The album ends with the musical theme of ‘A Love for Life’. GV Prakash is far-famed for giving such mesmerising tunes. It’s obvious that the youth group will have it as their caller tune for their mobiles.

On the whole, Raja Rani is a package of happy tunes that remains to be a blissful moment for the listeners. GV Prakash has attempted a new line of music in his career and this one is undoubtedly, one of the best in his list.

Final Word – Must own a copy.
