Few things really irk you to the core after watching Naiyaandi. The first one is obviously Dhanush being a part of this project and the other reason is how could a filmmaker like Sargunam craft such a fallible script. With a running length of approximately 145 minutes, the film fails to deliver a rib-tickling or engaging scenes. The film stars Dhanush and Nazriya Nazim in lead roles with Soori, Sathyan, Sriman, Pyramid Natarajan and Vamsi Krishna in important characters.
Director Sargunam offers a clear narration about the story right with the opening title itself. The aged brothers (Sriman and Sathyan) feel unprivileged for not getting any bride. Their younger brother Chinna Vandu (Dhanush) in contrast is loved by everyone. When he comes the beautiful Vana Roja (Nazriya Nazim), they both fall in love and stealthily enter wedlock as her father (Narain) decides to get her married to a ruffian (Vamsi Krishna). Feeling insecure about the situations, Chinna Vandu with the help of his cousin brother (Soori) gets Vanaroja into his home. Apparently, his elder brothers feel that ‘Goddess of Love’ has sent a princess into their lives. What happens next is a fun-filled drama that centers on the confusions within the house of brothers.
Years back, we had a beautiful comedy drama ‘Thenkasipattinam’ that didn’t have big star-cast, but was approved by audience. Nevertheless, what should have fell into this box gets away somewhere getting us confused. The film doesn’t carry anything for the Dhanush fans. His performance and humour sense goes completely missing. Nazriya looked beautiful and had good scope in Neram and Raja Rani despites her minimal role, but here apart from her looks, there is nothing to boast about.
On the whole, there is nothing specific to mention about the plot, performance and writing as everything is below average. The mistmatched concept and boring screenplay leaves you restless and only Sriman and Soori try to evoke some sort of laughter in their own panache.
