Maruthu 1

Following ‘Kuttipuli’ and ‘Komban’, director Muthaiah has directed the movie ‘Maruthu’.

Vishal is a daily wage worker in Rajapalayam town. His only relative is his grandmother and has only one close friend Suri. His grandmother made his affectionate towards the SriDivya who is the daughter of Lawyer Marimuthu. At this juncture, SriDivya files a murder case against local politician R.K.Suresh in the charge of murdering her mother.

R.K.Suresh has backing hand from heavyweight politician RadhaRavi. Hence, R.K.Suresh tries to kill both father Marimuth and daughter SriDivya. Now, the Vishal gives entry to save the lives of both and he becomes the direct enemy of R.K.Suresh. At one stage, Vishal marries SriDivya for security reasons; the calculation of villain prevails different. Finally, Vishal emerges victorious after losing something.

Director Muthaiah again and again proves that he is well-versed in taking the village stories. But, he should select good and different stories. Though there are various titles for his film, the background of the story remains the same. Hence, the audience feels sober.

All characters of this movie performed very well. Especially, Vishal exhibits his talent wonderfully in this movie in multiple dimensions. SriDivya was given more opportunities to prove her talent well. It is good to see the scenes in which SriDivya struggles with the height of Vishal. Suri’s performance in comedy and sentiment is superb.

Villain R.K.Suresh exhibits his talent perfectly. RadhaRavi also plays his part well. Lawyer Marimuthu and his wife have played well. Vishal’s grandmother Kolappulli Leela’s performance is so much effective and appreciable. She is very famous in Malayalam movie like Gandhimathi in our Tamil films. We expect that her presence will occur often in Tamil films hereafter.

Music director Imman’s work is impressive in action scenes than songs. Camera man’s Velraj’s contribution is co-operative with the music in stunt scenes.

If we compare this movie with Komban, there were so many turning points unlike this. Moreover, he shows his caste attitude in his movies continuously. We hope that he will change his way hereafter.
