Stark, powerful and convincing – that’s a three word magical term by Anirudh that he promises with his every album. Following his pick of scintillating albums, he comes up with the latest album ‘Maan Karate’ that stars Sivakarthikeyan and Hansika Motwani in lead roles. The film is directed by Thirukumaran and is produced by Madhan of Escape Artist Motion Pictures in collaboration AR Murugadoss productions. The album has 5 tracks based on different genres and some of them are quite enlivening indeed.
1. Darling Dambakku
Singers: Benny Dayal and Sunidhi Chauhan
The song had a popularity created amongst the fans with its first look teaser. One for its funny term of ‘Darling Dambakku’ and other for the colourful look of this song with Sivakarthikeyan and Hansika Motwani. Both the singers Benny Dayal and Sunidhi Chauhan are known for their overpowering voices and they create their own magic together with this track.
2. Darling Dambakku (Reprise)
Singers: Nivas and Kalpana
These singers are no exception as they tend to create the same impact as created by Benny and Sunidhi. Well, whoever might have crooned the song, the complete success lies in with the portions of ‘Darling Dambakku’.
3. Maanja
Singers: Anirudh
Anirudh tries his luck on a little different genre from what he has done before. His voice strikes a best of clarity. Not alone his vocalism, but the instrumentals and orchestrations are meant to create a best impact for this track. Much alike the previous song, this one too would have its realms with the visuals.
4. Open the Tasmac
Singers: Deva and Anirudh
It’s been nearly a decade we heard an authentic ‘Gaana’, a famous tradition of our Tamil Nadu. Anirudh favours us by bringing in the King of ‘Gaana’, Deva and has done it with a panache. Anirudh on his portion does the best to enhance the song. Usually ‘Gaana’ songs have simple beats and ochestrations in the backdrops, but here it’s a DJ version and yes, it is quite convincing as well.
5. Royapuram Peter
Singer: Sivakarthikeyan and Parvai Muniyamma
This is yet another Kuthu song that will engross the listeners, but compared to other tracks, it looks like a mystery whether it can achieve the usual paradigms of Anirudh factor. Sivakarthikeyan is a perfect choice and Paravai Muniyamma is a well tailored voice for such numbers. But the disappointing factor is Anirudh swearing with bad words that gains a ‘Beep’ sound throughout the track.
6. Un Vizhigalil
Singers: Anirudh and Shruthi Haasan
This is the only melody in the album that is well nurtured with melodic tunes, but it doesn’t bring back the effectual significance that Shruthi had it in ‘Kannazhaga’ from 3. We will have to give some time for this song.
Anirudh unlike his previous albums doesn’t give an 100% treat as only couple of songs ‘Darling Dambakku’ and ‘Maanja are the only best ones that enchants you vividly. Rest of the songs aren’t up to the expected levels.
Verdict: Buy it for ‘2 Tracks’, rest are disappointing.
