Komban Music Review

When we speak off Tamil music, the rural essence remains inherently adhered to it, but with the emergence of modernised genres adapting to the western styles, it folk songs slightly had its diminishing point. Thanks to GV Prakash! He imbibes his instrumentals towards the soil of nativity by roping in some of the indigene singers to offer the best appealing treat. Behind Frames brings you the music review of ‘Komban’ that marks the 50th album of GV Prakash starring Karthi, Lakshmi Menon, Raj Kiran and Kovai Sarala in lead roles. The album comes as a package of five tracks that include a celebration theme.

Kambikara Vetti

V.M. Mahalingam and Ananthu

The album takes off with a song of gleesome track that denotes the festive ambience. Of course, the visual has it written clearly that it is sure to get the audiences enthralled. But specifically, marking the verdicts for this track, it’s a decorous rendition by V.M. Mahalingam and Ananthu as they offer the perfect sense of native nature. Not to miss GV Prakash’s aesthetic sense of giving prominence to both music and vocalisms, not letting them overshadow each other.

Appappa

GV Prakash and Shreya Ghoshal

Overflow of soothing melodies adeptly happens when we glimpse on the brand ‘Shreya Ghoshal’ and yes, she skilfully delivers a brilliant epitome of her intonations that comes with accompaniment of simple-yet-captivating instruments in the backdrops. The mild percussions and snail-paced flute works beautify this romantic song based on the joy of new married couple.

Karuppu Nerathazhagi

Vel Murugan and Maalavika Sundar

A very long time indeed! Folk songs as mentioned over the top lines has become a rarity and GV Prakash clearly gluing up to the film’s nature delivers a track of this genre. It’s a flawless as the music director doesn’t try to gimmick up using western strokes or synthesisers. Vel Murugan aptly suits the track and Maalavika Sundar with her minimal significance gets on the best with humming. This is a song that you would fall in love instantly as you heed to it.

Mella Velanjadhu

Madhu Balakrishnan

This might not instantly arrest your senses, but on pars, you wouldn’t miss to hear this one for the emotionally blend voice of Madhu Balakrishnan. Undoubtedly, Madhu and Hari Charan are the best and top on league singers who can emboss such emotional songs with more poignance and Madhu Balakrishnan makes it sound so much close to our hearts. This song would naturally get its recognition with the visuals on the screens.

A Celebration (Komban Theme)

The tune sounds quite familiar as we have heard this many times in village based Tamil flicks and albums. Nonetheless, GV Prakash offers some fresh topping with few additional strokes.

Totting up with our analysis, the listeners would immediately have a strong penchant taste of Appappa (Shreya Ghoshal and GV Prakash) and Karuppu Nerathazhagi sounds more special and rest of them would gradually make up for best scores on the screens.

Verdict: GV Prakash’s 50 turns special for his fans.
