Meagamann Movie Review

Over a long period of time, Tamil cinema had lacked the genre called ‘Action’ throughout its show and Magizh Thirumeni had tried to offer a toast of it with Thadaiyara Thaakka. Years later, he comes back with Meagamann that stars Arya and Hansika Motwani in lead roles with Sudhanshu Pandey, Ashutosh Rana, Ramana, Ashish Vidyarthi and many others in prominent characters.

Set in the backdrops of Goa, the land where the drug Lords are ruling, Ashutosh Rana as Jyothi is the emperor. The police department decides to pull the entire network of Jyothi down to keep the city clean and assigns Arul (Arya) as Shiva manages to win the favour of Jyothi team and joins as one among them. Now he makes smart plans to bring down the entire empire of Jyothi. But guess what? No one has ever met Jyothi till now and no one knows about his looks.

Arya effortlessly sticks to the role with perfection and Magizh Thirumeni has made a right choice him for this role.  There is need for Arya to emote specifically to any scenes and his silence without any expressions itself works best wonders for this role. He shows up as a stunning macho and spells the best in action sequences. Hansika Motwani doesn’t appear throughout the film, but her portions are very well shot. After a long time, she tries to try something on romantic intimacies and her chemistry with Arya is sizzling. Sudhanshu Pandey surprises with his looks and it is a stunning work from the director. Ashutosh Rana stands out splendidly. Ashish Vidyarthi carries out his role with excellence and Ramana is good.

The storytelling method of Magizh Thirumeni works out the best results for this film and the film doesn’t go vague anywhere. The first half is racy and the second hour comes with a package of some surprising twists and the climax is so gripping that gives a complete feel of watching a flick worthy of tickets we spend. Thamman hadn’t delivered any Chartbusters in the recent times and this one is not an exception, but his background score works out well for the visual enhancement adding some intensity to the screenplay.

If you’re looking up for any minuses, there aren’t much to mention here. Maybe, the songs don’t impress you really, but they’re diminished by the sleek editing and top-notch visuals by cinematographer.

On the whole, Meagamann has some gripping and compelling elements with a toast of excitement for the action packed flick lovers.

Verdict: Don’t miss the racy thriller
