Defining new line of cinema with its enriched production values and unparalleled outputs, G Dhananjayan, Chief, South Business – Studios, Disney UTV holds a prominent position in the industry for having churned out crème de la crème movies and has released many flicks as well. The production house now ventures into the Mollywood zone distributing the theatrical release of five most anticipated movies of this season.

The first one to join this bandwagon is Mohanlal’s Koothara. The film is directed by Srinath Rajendran and has an ensemble star-cast of Mohanlal, Sunny Wayne, Bharath, Meera Jasmine, Samantha, Nazriya, Gautham Nair, Janani Iyer, Akhila Sasidharan and Jothirmayi. Apart from this power-packed star cast, a special breed dog Kombai plays an important role in this film. If there is one thing from this film that has excited the entire town, then it is the first look poster composed with graphic elements. For the first time, Malayalam industry will bring the technicians, who have worked in academy award winning movies like Life of Pai and Hugo. Having composed several Chartbusters, Gopi Sundar has composed music for this film that is shot across the exotic locales of Kozhikode, Lakshadweep, Kochi and Maldives.

Bicycle Thieves might directly take you to the classic flick directed by Vittorio Di Sica, but this one is completely different. Directed by Jis Joy, the film stars Asif Ali, Aparna Gopinath and Aju Varghese in lead roles. Scheduled for release this month on November 28, the story centers on a bunch of friends stealing and selling the bicycles for their livelihood… Deepak Dev has scored music and Ajith Pillai has penned screenplay and dialogues for this film.

Shot to fame for his spellbinding performance in Second Show, Sunny Wayne plays the lead role in 80s’ road trip movie titled Pournami that is scheduled for release in February 2014. The film features Pournami opposite Sunny in female lead. The film opens up in the beautiful locations of Alleppey and Kuttanad and moves across the snow capped regions of Ladakh. Kailas Menon has composed music for this film and cinematography is handled by Sinu Siddarth.

What follows next is Rasputin that is directed by Jinu G Daniel. The film stars Vinay Fort and Archana Gupta in lead roles with Aju Varghese, Srinath Bhasi and others in important characters. Touted to be a romantic comedy that film has musical score by Rony Abraham and National award winning cinematographer Hari Nair cranks the camera. The film is slated to hit screens in December 2013.

Experience the traditional Malabar Muslim wedding with Nikkah as director Azad Alavil promises to offer a super fantastic treat of fun and romance with this film. The film stars Srinath Bhasi and Shekar Menon in lead roles and they have already created magic with stellar performances in their previous movie Da Thadiaya. The technical crew comprises of Gopi Sundar (music), Vipin Mohan (cinematography), Yousaf Ali Kechari (lyrics) and Vijay Kumar (editing).
