The year has seen a whole lot of fantastic music albums coming from newcomers and existing music directors. Lots of new ideas and great sound technology used in the tracks. We’re not mentioning the tracks based on rankings, but all the songs are done with a panache and they hold special mention for it. The song is also based on the statistics of more airings at Radio One FM Station.
1. AANANDHA YAAZHAI – THANGAMEENKAL
The mellifluous treat from Yuvan Shankar Raja and playback singer Sriram Parthasarathy has become a father-daughter anthem across the globe. We’re sure if this song had occurred somewhere in a Hollywood or international album, it would have gained the Oscars and Grammys.
2. AVATHA PAIYAA – PARADESI
GV Prakash has been a master of experiments and his masterpiece ‘Paradesi’ was an ample evidence. The film is a period drama and he made sure that the melodies are delivered at its best. Yasin and Vandhana Srinivasan made the song so poignant and although it’s done in ancient style, it conquered the hearts of youngsters.
3. CHILLENA – RAJA RANI
Na. Muthukumar and GV Prakash together make a fantastic combination for churning out Chartbusters, which has been evident right from the latter’s debut film ‘Veyil’. This one is a pure western genre that gets a blend of folk and Kerala in the track. Clinton Cerejo, Alphonse and Alka made it more colorful.
4. INNUM KONJAM NERAM – MARIYAN
Vijay Prakash and Swetha Mohan brought to life the essence of emotions created by Kabilan and AR Rahman. The academy award winner gave a chance to journey back to the ‘Roja’ era that was so much fresh and delivered the absolute soul of love.
5. KAATHIRUNDHAI ANBE – NAVEENA SARASWATHI SABATHAM
Chinmayi, Nivas, Abhay Jodhpurkar – The choice of singers and the clarity of music with neat substantiality for the voices was one of the major reasons behind the song turning to be a good hit.
6. KANAVE KANAVE – DAVID
Anirudh arrived as the ‘Prince of Melodies’ right from his debut albums and this year’s outing ‘David’ in which he came up with a single track was an absolute treat. The kind of musical and his vocalism bought in an emotional saga to our eyes.
7. KASU PANAM DHUDDU MONEY – SOODHU KAVVUM
Gaana Bala and Andony Dasan made it all happen of 6 year old children and 70 year olds shaking legs for this track. It was composed in such a manner that it was an overnight success and not to miss the fantastic picturing of modern day of Darbars and the female dancers were the icing of the cake.
8. NENJE YEZHU – MARIYAN
The emblem of outcry, pain and redemption was the iconic representation of this song. It was so much touching that it reached the wide range of listeners and was acclaimed as one of the best compositions of this decade.
9. PISTAH SONG – THE RUN ANTHEM-NERAM
Music director Rajesh Murugesan picked up the lyrics of Jagathy Sreekumar that had appeared before decades in Malayalam cinema. Moreover, the singer Sabareesh Varma gave a pumping energy to the song with his vocalims.
10. NAHNA NA NAH EXTENDED VERSION – BIRIYANI
Premgi Amaran and Yuvan Shankar Raja gave an electrifying feel to the song and this has become a fever among the partygoers. The swing effect and Premgi coming up with some lyrical lines like ‘Marina Beach’ is a cool one.
