PICHAIKKAARAN – REVIEW

This story narrates about the millionaire who turns as a beggar for the healing of his ailing mother.

Vijay Antony returns Coimbatore from abroad and takes charge of their own company responsibilities from his mother. At the same time, his mother meets with an accident and goes in to ‘coma’ stage. On the advice of a sage, Vijay Antony turns as a beggar (to perform fast) for 48 days in Chennai by hiding his original identity.

He gradually becomes adept in begging. At this stage, his lover approaches him and in other side, he encounters different troubles. His lover parts way with him as she comes to know that he is a beggar. Furthermore, his uncle and a Chennai Rowdy decide to kill him for the sake of property.

In the last day to complete his fast, he faces his enemies. In this tussle, his lover gets severe injuries and battles for life. If he forsakes his fast in that situation without completing it, all ills would come to an end. Could he do it? Did his mother recover from her illness? – That is climax.

This story is based on real incident and centered on the mother sentiment. Hence, we are not struggling hard to accept the concept that crorpathi converts himself as a beggar.

Vijay Antony proves himself as a balancing performer in various dimensions. He secures pass marks in many scenes. The heroines who cast with Vijay Antony are generally being fit to the stories of his films though their future prospect cannot be assured. In this sense, the heroine of this film SethnaTidus enchants us.

Vijay Antony’s villain uncle ‘Pandiya Nadu’ Muthuraman, his mother Deepa, friend Bagavathi Perumal and beggars have done their job very well. ‘Amma’ song from Vijay Antony’s music deeply impresses us.

Vijay Antony’s performance as a beggar is not completely appreciable. There are so many logical flaws. Director Sasi’s dialogues are appreciable and effective. On the whole, director Sasi leads us to entertain this film.

This beggar is a real crorepathi not only in mind but also in collection.
