Irumbu Kuthirai – Review

I don’t want this bike, I want to win it and get it back. One day I’ll make it… The final state of conversation between two bikers is basic premise of this film. Well, when you can narrate the complete in just these few words, what’s there for 2 hour drama to narrate? This one big questions kicks up high as you walk out of theatres after watching Irumbu Kuthirai. The film is directed by debutant Yuvaraj Bose and is produced by AGS Entertainment. Atharvaa, Priya Anand, Johnny Tri Nyugen are the lead actors here and there are some prominent characters essayed by Rai Laxmi, Jagan, Alisha Abdullah, Devadarshini and few others.

A biker in Pondicherry Prithvi (Atharvaa) is someone who doesn’t break the road rules and this gains him a ridiculous remark at his Pizzeria for late deliveries. He falls in love with a beautiful girl (Priya Anand), but she doesn’t accept his gesture, things take a turn as a group of mysterious bikers hit Prithvi and kidnap his belle. Who are these roughnecks? What is their intention behind this drama?

The actors try out their best on spelling some good performances. But they seem to be helplessly stumbling due to weak screenplay and dialogues. Atharvaa completely runs short off scenes to express his prowess performance and Priya Anand could be seen just appearing with skimpy costumes and nothing else. Johnny Tri Nyugen breaks off the necks and heads for no reason and of course his appearance is magnificent. Raai Laxmi appears Atharvaa’s close buddy and yes, she appears for glam-up job and nothing serious to perform.

The running length of 2 hours doesn’t keep the audiences engaged. The five minutes before intermission and the last 10 minutes of race. Tot them up and its 15/120 minutes that really has a substantial stuff. The stunt director and editor are the only saviours of this film, who at least manage to keep it going till end.

Yuvaraj Bose has picked up a theme that is never attempted before in Tamil cinema, but it run short off a substantial writing and storytelling.

Verdict: Dearth race
