Just as the movie commences, the theatres overwhelmingly brim with extraordinary response and keep gaining the best whistles. Yes, it’s a compiled video of romantic films from the time of MGR, Sivaji, Rajinikanth-Kamal Haasan, Ajith-Vijay, Agni Natchathiram, 7 Rainbow Colony and finally to end with Aadukalam. It’s a fascination for anybody to see their stars in their romantic avatars. This indeed is a surprise as they have all turned to be massive action packed heroes and dons on the screens. But sooner the momentum drops after the introduction of Jayam Ravi and Hansika Motwani, the two paralleled characterisations that never should have met in their lives, but situations urge them to be so.
The plot is simple, where Jayam Ravi works as a Gym trainer and believes strongly in true love. Whereas Hansika Motwani on her part is someone who wants to marry a richer guy and falls in love with Ravi as mistaken identity. Eventually, when they decide to get married, things get Topsy-Turvy with accordance to the realization of Ravi’s real job, though he didn’t cheat her, but she moves away. Rest of the story is about how they get united at the last crossing all the barriers.
Nice to see Jayam Ravi after a long time as a handsome guy. He has been proceeding with some raw roles for the past few years including his last year release ‘Nimirndhu Nil’. He looks cute and handsome and his body physique for ‘Bhoologam’, has been retained here and his characterisation as gym trainer makes it all possible. Hansika Motwani has employed a lot of efforts and something we never saw her before with so much of energy. Watch out for her dance in ‘Arakki’ and you’ll accept what we say. Poonam Bajwa appears during the second half of the film and she looks cute as well. VTV Ganesh on his part gives a good performance and others in the cast also offer their best.
Musical score by D Imman is a good asset to this film, especially the song ‘Dandanakka’. On the flip side, the scenes looks too repeated throughout the movie. In fact, the first few minutes of the film has a similar pattern of sequences, where the girls plan up a drama and there are two versions we see that irks us terribly. The second half where Jayam Ravi starts to dominate is good and gains momentum, but even there, everything is predictable.
If director Lakshman had kept the screenplay crispier avoiding some songs and stereotypical moments, it would have been more engrossing.
Verdict: Cool breezy rom-com, could have been better
