300: Rise of an Empire is unbeatably the most exciting sequel that is hitting the screens this season. Remember the Facebook photo of Gerard Butler with the legend “This is Spartaaa”? Yep, that comes from the first movie. Now Spartan general The mistokles leads the army against invading Persian forces led by Xerxes – yes, the same mortal-turned-god from the last movie. Also with Xerxes is Artemisia, the vengeful commander of the Persian navy, King Leonidas from 300 was also to be featured according to the original plan, but Gerard Butler decided it wasn’t really his thing – after all the six pack fans and trending Facebook photos, that’s what he said. So what happens is, Sparta and Athens club together and see if they can save themselves from the 10 – foot giant Xerxes and his superior army. Don’t worry; we haven’t spoiled the movie for you, there are a lot about it that we are not telling you, so feel free to reserve your tickets. If not for the six-pack ‘Spartan look’ that every soldier sports for the movie, there is still poor Rodrigo Santoro who had to sit in the green screen room the whole time due to the make-up Xerxes needed. Zack Snyder’s love for the movie is evident – he produced the movie as well as wrote it; and Eva green looks classical as usual.
