SS Rajamouli doesn’t always confine himself to the complicated stories. He is a maverick filmmaker who incessantly loves choosing some simple stories, but ends up eventually adorning them with engaging narration with best commercial elements. The most expected film ‘Baahubali – The Beginning’ has been making headlines from the past couple of years and has finally made a majestic arrival.

The film is about Shiva (Prabhas), who grows up inside a forest as the son of Mother Nature and later rose by a group of tribal. But after certain age, he gets to know about his real identity through a beautiful girl (Tamannaah) who appears in apparition and later as a warrior in the verge of rescuing her queen Deva Sena (Anushka Shetty) along with her rebels. How Shiva is connected to this and in what way he is related to Deva forms crux of the story.

Starting off with an elaboration, it’s SS Rajamouli’s fantastic touch that prevails everywhere. Even the normal sequences are convincingly done. But to be precise, the first half is not so much convincing as it takes nearly 40-60 minutes for the story to settle down and probably things shoot up higher with momentum by intermission. In contrast, the second half is so much powerfully conveyed with lots of grandiloquence in the screenplay, with the art works and the background score by Maragadha Mani is extraordinary. The film derives with the astounding performance of almost all the actors. Rebel Star Prabhas brings forth an appealing performance. Be his body language or dialogue deliveries, he is tremendous and Rana Daggubati with his herculean looks stuns us vividly. Anushka Shetty might not have more importance, but the scenes she appears is something built with more power. Tamannaah looks good and tries to perform well in both action and romantic sequences. Sathyaraj is extraordinary and he leaves us speechless with a transfixing performance. Nasser is excellent and Ramya Krishnan steals the show in an unexpected manner. This is something we have been constantly waiting from this genius actress from the time of Padaiyappa.

MM Keeravani aka Maragadha Mani renders his spellbinding work in background score, especially during the war sequences, he is extraordinary. The cinematography is a blessing to this film that goes well acquainted with the CG works and special effects.

There are some aspects on the flip side… The romantic sequences between Prabhas and Tamannaah could have been done in a better way. The first half lacks some momentum and tests our patience. But overall, the film offers a wholesome treat to everyone and end of the show with the twist in climax unveiled by Sathyaraj, you’re sure to wonder about ‘Baahubali – The Conclusion’ hitting screens by 2016.

Verdict: SS Rajamouli’s unbeatable narration and grandness embellished
