Swift thrillers with loads of entertainment and engaging screenplay are the best things that who can afford from Venkat Prabhu irrespective of who the hero is. The director with a boasting series of success strikes with this sixth one titled ‘Masss’ now rechristened as Massu Engira Maasilamani. Produced by Studio Green K.E. Gnanavel Raja, the film stars Nayantara, Pranitha, Partheipan, Samuthirakani, Premgi Amaran and many others in important roles…

The film is about devil may care Masss (Suriya), who earns his livelihood ransacking money through fraud methods of posing as vigilance officer and so on. His sidekick (Premgi Amaran) fondly called as Jettu has always been beside him. It’s love at first sight for Masss over a beautiful girl (Nayantara) and she indeed asks for a help of Rs. 3.5lacs so for her to get promoted. On this process of trying to pick the money he is attacked by the men who actually have lost the money to him. Through the dashing drive, both Suriya and Premgi Amaran are hit by terrible accident. What happens now is something that is unpredictable with surprising and shocking turns in the plot.

‘Masss’ completely belongs to Suriya for his performance is so stunning and he rules the show in every frame. His variations in role as a normal youngster and another one as Eelam Tamilian are stunningly splendid. Moreover, his dialogues with the slang of Eelam Tamil show his hard work and bring up more efficient performance. Nayantara looks beautiful than before and although her role is limited, she does what is offered to her. Pranitha on her part gets a decent role. Samuthirakani is excellent. Parthiepan offers the best entertainment with his usual style, but all these great actors arrive too late in the film. Jayaprakash is wasted. Karunaas doesn’t get more scope. Premgi Amaran is good in his performance and gets a substantial role. Sriman does a neat job.

Yuvan Shankar Raja scores brownie points with his background score and the songs are okay, but they get very well pictured through stunning cinematography of RD Rajashekar. VFX and CG works plays a vital role in supporting the film’s genre.

On the whole, Masssu Engira Maasilamani is a wholesome entertainer that gives the best experience to the audiences for the tickets they pay for.

Verdict: Top-class entertainer for all Masses.
