There have been lots of crime thrillers that have tasted success in Tamil cinema before years. But how far Sigaram Thodu makes a difference is something you’ll have to go through our analysis. Director Gaurav made a debut with suspense thriller ‘Thoonga Nagaram’ and has now made his comeback with the film ‘Sigaram Thodu’. The basic premise of this film is about the ATM scamsters and robberies that have been appalling the entire Chennai and Tamil Nadu over the years. Lacing this theme with commercial elements, the director has tried to entertain the audiences with his own skill.
The film about an ex-cop Sathyaraj, who has taken over the back office job at police department after being away from his service as a cop. He hasn’t just lost his legs, but his wife as well during his sincere service. Now he wants his son Vikram Prabhu to take over this job and serve the Nation. However Vikram Prabhu who was so much affected by the loss in life wants to lead a peaceful life for him and his dad as well so is looking out for a promotion at bank job. Meanwhile he falls in love with a beautiful girl (Monal Gajjar), but she doesn’t want him to be a cop. However, now he is stuck between the dreams of his father and his girlfriend. In the interim, a serious ATM crime has been happening and the people have lost their peace and some their lives.
First things first!!! Director Gaurav deserves special appreciation for his brilliance in casting. Sathyaraj and Vikram Prabhu have suited the role of father-son relationship. The scenes involving Vikram Prabhu and Sathyaraj have been very well etched. On the pars, the romantic chemistry between Vikram Prabhu and Monal Gajjar is beautifully portrayed. The scenes that involve them during first half in Haridwar are really enjoyable. Director Gaurav has played the baddie role, but is little okay with it. On the flip side, the screenplay is little lengthy and the actual conflict starts only by the second half. But the raciness that picks up during the second hour saves the film going at its best…. Additionally, the background score by D Imman has worked a lot of magic to the enhancement of visuals and the screenplay gets little gripping.
Overall, Sigaram Thodu is a good entertainer laced with neat message. It creates awareness about the ATM robberies and how people should be aware about keeping their pin numbers and ATM card safer.
Verdict: A good entertainer with social message on ATM
