Poojai Music Review

80

Production: Vishal Film Factory

Star-cast: Vishal, Shruthi Hassan, Radhika, Sathyaraj and many others

Direction: Hari

Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Post Singam 2, Poojai is director Hari’s next venture. As the music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, let’s check it out how has it turned out. The film stars Vishal and Shruthi Haasan in lead roles with an ensemble star-cast of Sathyaraj, Radhika Sarathkumar, Soori, Aishwarya, Sitara, Prathap Pothen and many others.

Song: Odi Odi

Singer: Palakkad Sriram

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

The song is more like a mass number composed exclusively for Vishal. The composer has tried his best to make it an inspiration track; nevertheless, he fails to impress the audience.

Song: Ippadiye

Singers: Rahul Nambiar, Mili Nair

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

With Ippadiye, Yuvan has ensured that this number would be loved by all for a long time especially for the magic it creates. With the slight touch of Kuthu and the rendering of Rahul Nair and Mili Nambiar makes it more intriguing.

Song: Veraarum

Singers: Karthik, Pooja

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

A simple and traditional traditional number that is wonderfuly crooned by Karthik. However, the track souds normal and vague and there is nothing interesting to boast about.

Song: Uyire

Singers: Yuvan Shankar Raja

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

Uyire is a solo track rendered by Yuvan that is full of Pathos. The orchestra takes the normal path and the lyrics and Yuvan’s singing makes it a unique one.

Song: Soda Bottle

Singers: Yazin, Anthony Dasan, Sathyan

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

This song turns about to be nothing more than an intro song to Vishal

Song: Devathai

Singers:  Nivas

Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar

A song that is sure to attract as many as audience! Devathai has a slight touch of Azhago Azhagu in it (Samar) and the mix of whistle, rock, female chorus and Nivas’s voice attracts the listeners. This song is surely a chart-topper.

Maybe, few songs in the album are quite impressive, but overall the album doesn’t compliment the Yuvan fans.

Verdict – Poojai fails to recreate the old magic of Yuvan.
