Stressed out and feeling really tired with usual prototyped films of violence, bloodshed and crime? Here’s your pick for this weekend – Naaigal Jaakirathai directed by Sakthi Soundarajan makes you feel elated and completely entertaining.

Of course, we have seen many films based on dogs accompanying heroes and they have quite a minimal role. But director Sakthi Soundarajan brings forth a new dimensional story of how a dog can have its domination much equivalent to the film’s protagonist itself. First and foremost, Sibiraj deserves all praises for choosing such an unconventional script and adapting the change of audiences’ mindset. He could have blatantly gone ahead with an action thriller, but the actor understands what really family audience need in theatres.

The story opens in the backdrops of military camp in Kashmir, where a Major Commander is shot dead during his casual walk and his pet dog (Subramani) remains beside him even after three days until the police discover his body. Cut to Coimbatore, we find Karthik (Sibiraj) and his friend as police officers on the hunt of some masked abductors. During the shootout, his friend is bumped off and Karthi is terribly hit on his legs. Few days later, the dog we saw in Kashmir is seen here at his neighborhood and they somehow get acquainted. Things turn out to be miserable on the other end, when Sibiraj’s soul mate, his wife (Arundhati) is kidnapped by a group of masked kidnappers. What unfolds next is the hunt for the baddies by Karthik and his bunch of cops accompanied by Subramani, his pet.

As mentioned earlier, it’s a fun-filled family entertainer though it has its own toast of thrill. Sibiraj underplays his role very well and doesn’t overreact anywhere. He fits to the role and his encounters with Belgium Shepherd Subramaniam are sure to win the hearts of family audience, especially kids.

The major plus of this film its humour laced with thriller. The relationship between Sibiraj and Arundhati are very well showcased.  The songs and background score by Dharan are the cool toppings. Cinematography is okay and certain shots are really remarkable.

As on whole, Naaigal Jaakirathai is a 100% family entertainer that you can watch up without missing. Kudoses to Sibiraj for choosing a right comeback and Sathyaraj for making it happen with his production. Both can thank Sakthi Soundarajan for coming up with a decorous entertainer.

Verdict: Don’t waste a minute. Go grab your tickets
