Vai Raja Vai Movie Review

When Aishwarya Dhanush made ‘3’, though it was bound to some mixed reviews, it had some classiness towards the treatment and basic concept that she had embarked on. It looks like she had realised that commercial entertainers are need of hour and henceforth popped up the idea of ‘Vai Raja Vai’, an entertainer that would instantly grab everyone’s attention.

The film has a very simple theme of a guy blessed with special powers of predicting the future, which he later uses up to sweep the fortune and money. Gautham Karthik is the guy living a picture perfect family and has a beautiful girl (Priya Anand), a plant pathologist in love with him. A witty pal (Ethir Neechal fame Satish) and affectionate sister (Gayathri Raghuram) makes his life more complete. But when he comes across a new found colleague in his office (Vivekh), his life takes an abrupt twist.

Characterisation of predicting future is something that many protagonists have been gifted earlier in Hollywood and Tamil cinemas. We have come across many such instances in films like Final Destination, Minority Report and so on. Over here, transporting the same concept is a good attempt and Aishwarya Dhanush has tried implementing it with some decorous narration. The first half is so racy that it passes at a rapid pace and the second hour has some gripping moments, especially the sequences in Cruise exposes the grandness to a great extreme.

Gautham Karthik looks handsome and smarter than before. Priya Anand is so glamorous and so is Taapsee, who in spite of minimal appearance wins the appreciation. Vivekh manages to steal the show with some good fun and Ethir Neechal Satish is okay. Daniel Balaji is expressive and director Vasanth isn’t at his best.

Songs by Yuvan Shankar Raja comparatively to his previous movies are good and background score is remarkable.

Overall, Vai Raja Vai is a mindless entertainer will surely keep us engaged in many places. Watch it without any expectations and you’ll have some good entertainer amusing you for this summer heat.

Verdict: Goodly entertaining as a thriller-entertainer.
