SETHUPATHI – REVIEW

The film ‘Sethupathi’ is one more inclusion in the list of police stories.

Vijay Sethupathi is a terror police inspector in Madurai area. He commits in the case to investigate about the murder of a fellow police man. He encounters hurdles from the local don Vela.Ramamurthy as he is involved in that issue.

Meanwhile, he enquires some school boys regarding the chain theft having dummy revolver with him. But, accidentally, he shoots one of the boys. This incident becomes severe and Sethupathi gets suspension order. He personally involves in the investigation to find out who was responsible to the conspiracy by loading the bullet in the revolver.

He finally finds out the black goat (culprit)in his own department. Vela.Ramamurthy was not involved in this matter. But, he creates obstacles to Sethupathi in joining duty again. Who succeeded finally? – That is climax.

Vijay Sethupathy has perfectly exhibited his talents as a police officer. But, he was not given with appropriate opportunities by director Arunkumar. Despite, the beautiful heroine Ramya Nambeesan attracts us, her frequent quarrels and romances with Vijay Sethupathi lead us to feel bore.

Villain Vela.Ramamurthy has tried his level best. But, he also was not given with proper chances. Sub-inspector Linga, investigative officer and higher police officer attract us. The work of music director Nivas tries to impress us much.

This film is not enlivened one unlike other police stories. Why they have added more husband-wife relationship scenes in the spirited police story? Why they have reduced the importance of Villain unnecessarily? We can say that director Arunkumar has failed to judge the taste of the fans in the conceptof police story.
