Why ‘Thegedi’ is special to Kollywood?

Remember the black & white era, where Jai Shankar was acclaimed as ‘Desi’ James Bond for his cult method of investigations. His films were highly regarded for the scintillating thrill elements in the murder-mystery. The method of solving his mysteries was unique of its kind and that was the beginning of new era. However, as the time traversed through the 80s and 90s, these genres didn’t have much scope to perform.

Thanks to the new age filmmakers, especially the ones hailing from short film league. In fact, all credit goes to producers CV Kumar and Abhinesh, who in their own ways have churned out back-to-back super hit flicks with new genres. Following the grand success of Pizza, Soodhu Kavvum and Villa, it’s time to experience one more new exploration.

‘Thegidi’ is a murder-mystery directed by P. Ramesh, who earlier claimed success with his title win of ‘Nalaya Iyakkunar’. His short film ‘Parudhi Maran’ won incredible laurels that had a ‘Dog’ playing central character. The director fresh with ideas has crafted this new-age thriller that will keep audiences on edge-of-seats.

What’s more interesting about the film is that the shooting has been wrapped in just 45 days. The film stars Ashok Selvan and Janani Iyer in lead roles. The young vibrant star has already garnered good response for his idealistic performance in ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ and ‘Villa – Pizza:2’. Janani Iyer might have not been a part of many movies, but her acting skills in ‘Avan Ivan’ and ‘Paagan’ were highly praised.

The unit members of ‘Thegidi’ assure that the film has all elements of thriller. Even the songs are not transported to dream sequences, but will be a montage and come as a continuation of sequences. The film has a running length of 121 minutes, exactly matching up to the Hollywood style of movies.

Adding more to this, the technical crew of Nivas Prasanna (music), Dinesh Krishnan (cinematography) and Leo John Paul (editing) stands out to be the icing of cake. These young bunch of technicians have embellished the film to a greater magnitude that is evident with the theatrical trailer itself. The songs by Nivas have captured the audio markets and yes, the background score will enhance the visual feel.

The film is scheduled for release on February 28 and there’s lot expected from this film for the captivating songs, brilliant teaser and presence of cute Ashok Selvan and gorgeous Janani Iyer.
