Sathuranga Vettai Movie Review

There are lots of interesting elements with Sathuranga Vettai. Firstly, it’s a convincing script by filmmaker Vinoth who has done a fabulous job with dialogues and direction as well. It shows evidently that there has been a lot of research and hard work involved in the process of script writing. The next factor that makes Sathuranga Vettai a special movie is the sketch of characterisations. Almost everyone in the cast are newcomers, but their characterisation and an effective performances make the film more engaging.

The film has a simple plot and it involves a conman named Gandhi Babu (Natarajan) and his team involved in the most cunning activities of cheating people. It involves a lot of people belonging to different regions. But after a certain point of time, he gets snatched by a group of hooligans and they decide to take his life and that of his beloved wife. Gandhi Babu has only one option to win them 100-Crore money or just go to the graves. What unfolds next is a series of unpredictable events with a climax that is so convincing.

Natarajan becomes the absolute showstopper with a flawless performance and he outmatches his very own previous movies. His different get ups and his aping skill of imitating the MLM speeches and the final act of capturing a big shot as a temple priest in selling a duplicate product for Rs.100Crore is the icing of cake. Isha Nair makes a good show and dubbing with her own voice is a neat attempt. Ponvannan with his short cameo is decorous in his style and Ilavarasu as a person cheated easily is a piece of humour. The actor who plays a major role in climax besides Natty and Isha deserves special performance.

On the technical front, it’s the cinematography by Venkatesh. Being a first timer, he has showcased his best work with unusually great visuals. Editing is sleek and stylish, thereby enhancing the speed of screenplay.

On the whole, Sathuranga Vettai is something new to the audience. Though you might bring out a reference to Mankatha and Soodhu Kavvum, this proves to be an outstandingly different drama with lots of commercial elements that comes with a convincing package.

Verdict: This conman hunts your attention
